European Accessibility Act
We fix the accessibility defects in your online shop.
The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025. We scan your storefront, name each defect we find with the WCAG criterion it fails, and fix them in your code in a fixed-price sprint.
- The date the Act began to apply
- 28.06.2025
- Every defect named with the criterion it fails
- WCAG
- Fixes go into your theme and code, not an overlay widget
- Code
Three steps, in this order.
- 01
The scan
We scan your storefront and send you the defect list: each defect with where it is and the WCAG criterion it fails. The report says which checks it ran. An automated scan finds a share of defects, not all of them, and we say so on the report.
- 02
The fix sprint
A fixed price, quoted from the scan and agreed in writing before we start. We fix the defects in your theme and code, and record each one before and after, so you have the evidence.
- 03
The re-scan
After the sprint we re-scan on a schedule and report anything that regresses, because a new banner, app or theme update can reintroduce a defect you already paid to fix.
What you get, and what you don't.
You get
- A defect list you can read without a developer: where, what, and which criterion
- Fixes made in your own theme and code
- Before-and-after evidence for every fix
- A fixed price agreed before any work starts
You don't get
- No compliance certificate, and no guarantee: nobody can honestly sell one for a website
- No overlay widget or toolbar bolted onto your shop
- No legal advice: you publish your own accessibility statement, with our evidence behind it
Does the Act apply to your shop?
The European Accessibility Act, Directive (EU) 2019/882, covers e-commerce services offered to consumers in the EU. Microenterprises that provide services, meaning fewer than 10 staff and an annual turnover or balance sheet of no more than €2 million, are exempt from its service requirements. Member states enforce it through their own laws, so the detail varies by country.
This is a summary, not legal advice. Check your own obligations with counsel.
Get the defects fixed.
Already scanned, or want a person to look? Send your shop's address and anything you know is broken. You get a fixed quote for the sprint before anything starts.
Questions
Do you certify that my shop is compliant?
No. We fix the defects and hand you the evidence, before and after. You publish your own accessibility statement.
Why not just install an accessibility widget?
A widget adds a toolbar on top of the page; it does not change the code underneath, which is where the defects are. We fix the code.
How is the sprint priced?
From the scan. Once you have the defect list, you get a fixed price in writing, and nothing starts until you agree to it.
